USP4 (Ubiquitin specific protease 4, UNP) has been shown cleave the ubiquitin precursor UBICEP52 and the isopeptide (isopeptide linked) ubiquitin conjugate ubiquitin-(εN)-lysine in vitro. It deubiquitinates PDPK 1 and TRIM21. USP4 may play a role in regulating mRNA splicing and quality control in the ER.
