CHIP is an E3 that coordinates with Ataxin3 to mark misfolded chaperone proteins for UPS degradation. Deficiencies within this pathway are associated with rare disease, such as Spinocerebellar Ataxia, Autosomal Recessive 16 and Gordon Holmes Syndrome.
