USP27X (Ubiquitin Specific Protease 27, X-linked; also known as USP22L/USP27) is a cysteine protease deubiquitinase (USP-family DUB) that removes ubiquitin from substrate proteins to modulate both proteostasis and ubiquitin-dependent signaling. USP27X has been reported to edit multiple ubiquitin chain types, including K48- and K63-linked linkages, enabling it to stabilize select targets and reshape protein trafficking or degradation.
