SI201: Ubiquitin-WT

WT-Ubiquitin is the native, unmodified ubiquitin used to study the ubiquitin-proteasome system. Ideal for assays involving E1, E2, E3 enzymes, proteasome activity, chain assembly, and DUB specificity, it serves as a control for modified variants.

Ubiquitin is a small polypeptide that attaches via its C-terminus to lysine residues on target proteins. WT-Ubiquitin (wild-type) is the native, unmodified form and an essential tool for studying the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), which controls protein degradation and turnover. It acts as the foundation for ubiquitin chains that signal for degradation or other cellular processes. WT-Ubiquitin is commonly used in assays involving E1, E2, and E3 enzymes, proteasome activity, polyubiquitin chain formation, and deubiquitinase (DUB) specificity. A single ubiquitin attachment is called monoubiquitylation, while additional ubiquitins linked through any of seven lysine residues form polyubiquitin chains. This tag-free recombinant human WT-Ubiquitin serves as a reference for modified variants and is critical for research into UPS-related diseases such as neurodegeneration, cancer, and immune disorders.
