Specifications
MDM2 is an E3 (ubiquitin protein ligase) that is a vital regulator of the p53 tumor suppressor protein1. MDM2 can promote tumor formation by targeting tumor suppressor protein p53 for proteasomal degradation. Studies show that MDM2 has the ability to function as a ubiquitin protein ligase for both itself and p53. It has also been shown that MDM2 can mediate its E3-ligase activity in a RING finger-dependent manner. MDM2 is useful in conjunction with E1 and E2 for the study of enzyme kinetics, screening inhibitors, and selectivity profiling.
