Specifications

UBE2L6 (UbcH8) is an E2 (ubiquitin conjugating enzyme) that is involved in the conjugation of ubiquitin to target substrates along with E1 and E3 enzymes. UBE2L6 is also the E2 utilized in the conjugation of the ubiquitin like protein (Ubl) ISG15 to its substrates (ISGylation) in concert with the ISG15 E1 (ISG15 activating enzyme). ISG15 is an interferon induced Ubl that is implicated in innate immunity pathways. UBE2L6 is highly similar in primary structure to the enzyme encoded by the UBE2L3 gene.
